Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Automotive Service Manager to join our team. As an Automotive Service Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our GM Certified Service Department. This includes managing a team of technicians, ensuring high-quality service and repairs, and providing exceptional customer service. Vogel Chevrolet has been family owned and operated for 95 years!
Responsibilities:
- Manage and supervise a team of automotive technicians, providing guidance and support as needed
- Schedule and assign work to technicians, ensuring efficient workflow and timely completion of repairs
- Monitor daily productivity and technician performance and provide feedback for improvement
- Ensure that all repairs and service work meet quality standards and are completed in a timely manner
- Maintain accurate records of customer interactions, service history, and repairs performed
- Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and concerns in a professional and timely manner
- Create and maintain positive working relationships with customers to encourage customer retention and referrals
-Refer to service history, inspect vehicle and recommend any additional service needed
-Advise customers on the care and maintenance of their vehicles and the value of regular maintenance
-Provide complete and accurate cost estimates to the customers
-Contact customers regarding any changes in estimates or time promised, and get proper authorization prior to performing additional repairs
-Review repair orders to ensure work is complete and additional work and authorization is noted
-Handle telephone calls regarding appointments and work in process
-Explain completed work and charges to customers
-Maintain a professional appearance
-Encourage teamwork amongst employees within the department and with other departments
-Facilitate required technical training
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, new technologies, and advancements in automotive service and repair
-Maintain a safe work environment and comply with regulations on hazardous waste disposal
-Ensure the proper care, storage and inventory of special tools
Experience:
- Previous experience as an automotive service manager (GM preferred)
- Strong knowledge of automotive systems, diagnosis and drivability
- Experience with brake repair, tire service, vehicle maintenance, automotive repair, diesel engine repair is highly desirable
- Excellent customer service and communication skills with the ability to build strong relationships with customers
- Solid understanding of dealership operations
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to self-motivate and inspire a team
- Exceptional problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
-Experience in cold weather repairs
-ASE certifications
-Computer literacy
